About us
“Do you love theatre as much as I do?” were famous words spoken by Tatiana Doronina, and I think this could well be the motto of the Saint Petersburg Maly Comedy Theatre Production Company.
In 2005, two young enthusiasts, Grigorii Oleinikov and Konstantin Kuleshov, decided to try their hand at theatrical events production.
They found a play, invited a director, the wonderfully talented Honoured Artist of Russia Valery Nikitenko, a number of actors, and after a short while the repertoire of St. Petersburg theatres included a performance of Caught in the Net, based on the play by the famous English comedy writer Ray Cooney.
2022-2023 is the theatre’s fifteenth season. The company has seven productions in its repertoire, which are all comedies. These include the aforementioned Caught in the Net, La Bonne Anna (based on the play by French playwright Marc Camoletti), Two into One (based on the play by Ray Cooney), the Christmas comedy Out of Order (also based on the play by Ray Cooney, in partnership with the concert agency The Plaza), Midnight Burglary ( based on the vaudeville by V. Konstantinov and B. Ratser, and probably the best loved of all, Hero of the Occasion (based on the play by V. Konstantinov and B. Ratser), Crazy Day, or It’s All Paris’s Fault ( The famous classic play, rewritten by the well-known brilliant playwright and humorist Arkadii Arkanov) They are performed by: Irina Mazurkevich, Boris Smolkin, Sergey Kuznetsov, Mikhail Razumovsky, Natalia Andreeva, Sergey Losev, Evgeny Chudakov, Semyon Furman, Sergey Murzin, Igor Volkov, Elena Lipets, Natalia Lyzhina, Vitaly Kuzmin, Ekaterina Suvorova and many other wonderful artists and talented young people. The theatre’s leading actors are from the famous Akimov Theatre of Comedy and the Alexandrinsky Theatre.
Our production company is a friendly, close-knit team of professionals. We do not only work together, we also spend our spare time together, and celebrate birthdays and holidays as a group. We love our actors (which now reached more than fifty in number), we are kind to them and highly appreciative of their work, and this is mutual.
