“Le Week-End” («Уикенд по-французски»)

“Le Week-End” («Уикенд по-французски»)

Musical and dancing super-comedy in two acts with one intermission.

Based on the famous play “La bonne Anna” by Marc Camoletti.

“Le Week-End” is a typical situation comedy in combination with the Commedia dell’Arte, with a purely French nuances, wonderful music by Charlie Chaplin and dancing. The play ran in Paris, at Comedy Frances, about 25 years with a steady full house and stood more than 1500 shows!

The action takes place in Paris, in the house of Bernard and Jacqueline, where the nimble maid Anne works.

Bernard, the owner of the house, decides to spend the weekend with his mistress, Brigitte. In order to do so, he needs his wife and maid to leave the house. So he sends Jacqueline to her parents and Anne to her relatives. Bernard himself is supposedly going on an urgent business trip.

And that would be all right, except that neither Anna nor Jacqueline are going anywhere. Knowing that the owners won’t be home and wishing to save money, Anna is going to stay in an empty apartment. Jacqueline brings home Robert, her lover, and Bernard brings home his mistress. Thus, Anna, “trying on” a kind of Truffaldino face mask, for a time turns into a “maid of two masters” and does her best to ensure that the two couples do not meet. How does she manage to do it?
